I'll be replacing the Rebound Spring and the Hammer Spring
on my Smith & Wesson Model 63 (J Frame) with new springs from Wolff
Gun Springs. STEP 1: Unload firearm.
STEP 2: Remove Grips.
STEP 3: Remove 3 screws
holding the side plate on.
STEP 4: Remove cylinder and yoke.
STEP 5: Remove side plate
using kinetic energy—never pry.
STEP 6: Remove hammer block,
cock hammer and capture hammer spring.
STEP 7: Pull cylinder release, let down the hammer and remove hammer spring.
STEP 8: Release cylinder catch and remove hammer.
TOOL: I used a special
tool, a Smith & Wesson Rebound Slide Spring Tool
STEP 9: Remove the Rebound
Spring.
STEP 10: Replace with new
Rebound Spring.
STEP 11: Pull cylinder release and trigger and replace hammer.
STEP 12: Uncapture hammer spring.
STEP 13: Recapture new hammer spring.
STEP 14: Replace hammer spring into grip and uncapture.
STEP 15: Replace cylinder and yoke.
STEP 16: Replace hammer block.
STEP 17: Replace side plate
and screws.
STEP 18: Replace grips.
STEP 19: Test fire.
